Patrol Hours
Our amazing Surf Lifeguards are on duty at Ōpunakē Beach every Saturday, Sunday, and Public Holiday from 11:30am to 4:30pm, starting in late November through to mid-March.
☀️ Come down, enjoy the surf, and say hi to our friendly volunteer lifeguards!
During the summer holidays, you’ll also see our regional guards keeping watch on weekdays from 11:30am to 6:00pm (late December to late January).
👋 Fun fact – they’re the same awesome people who volunteer their time on weekends too!
Junior Surf Sundays at 10am – late November to March
Our Junior Surf programme is all about fun, friendship, and learning to love the ocean! Kids develop water confidence, surf skills, and teamwork — all while training to be the next generation of lifeguards.
If your child is keen to give it a go, come along on a Sunday morning or have a chat with our Junior Surf Coordinator to find out more. We recommend 7+ years old join us! 🌊🏖️
